ChironBooks is an independent publisher of books by authors already established in various genres who also write excellent books for young readers.

The whole book as a creative experience—
The Chiron project got started when authors Wim Coleman and Pat Perrin were preparing for a presentation of Wim’s plays at the winter lecture series of the San Miguel chapter of International PEN. They decided to put a book of plays together for the event. To see that book—called Plays on Ideas—and link to a video reading of one play, click here.

That was fun. Then they did another little book for Wim's reading of his cabaret epic, The Comedy of Falstaff. Considering the book as a whole—text, covers, and the look of the pages—was so satisfying that Coleman and Perrin just had to do more. They were working on several novels for young readers, so they organized ChironBooks to publish them. The new company soon snapped up U.S. rights to two books by Lucina Kathmann that had been published in Argentina. And there's more to come.

The Chiron program will include videos for classroom and home use.

In Greek mythology,
Chiron was a noble centaur, a healer and a tutor to heroes such as Ajax, Aeneas, Theseus, Achilles, Jason, Peleus, Telamon, Heracles, and others. He was respected for his intelligence and kindness. He gave up his immortality to save the life of Prometheus, who had given humans the gift of fire.
